Cannes

Cannes is a French town situated in the département of Alpes-Maritime in the Provence Alpes French Riviera region, 36km (22 miles) from Nice, 55km (34 miles) from Monaco and 60km (37 miles) from the Italian border. The seafront, with its famous La Croisette promenade, is one of the major tourist attractions of the town, along with the islands of Lérins off the coast, which form part of the town. Cannes is also internationally renowned for its film festival, held each year in May. The Festivals Palace is one of the magical places of this marvellous town. Equally as delightful are the luxury hotels which line La Croisette, such as the Carlton Intercontinental hotel, Hôtel Martinez, Hôtel Majestic and Palais Stephanie (formerly the Noga Hilton).
